Description:

L-Ascorbyl palmitate is a white or slightly yellow powder with a slight citrus smell. It is insoluble in water and vegetable oil, but easily soluble in ethanol (1 g/45 ml). Its MP is 107-117°C, and it has an optical rotation of [α] 250+21-24°. It can stably exist in dry air.


L-Ascorbyl palmitate, also known as ascorbic acid-6-palmitate and palmitic acid ascorbyl ester, is a white or yellowish-white powder with a slight citrus smell. my country's "Sanitary Standards for the Use of Food Additives" stipulates that L-Ascorbyl palmitate can be used in edible oils, oil-containing foods, instant noodles, and bread, with a maximum usage of 0.2g/kg.



Applications: 
 
· It can be used in oil-containing foods, edible oils, animal and vegetable oils and high-end cosmetics. It can also be used in various infant foods and milk powders. It has antioxidant and nutritional fortification functions. As an antioxidant whitening agent for VE, Chemicalbook has a very obvious antioxidant effect in oils and fats and is resistant to high temperatures. It is suitable for medicines, health products, cosmetics, etc. It is also suitable as an antioxidant for baking and frying oils. Its antioxidant effect on lard is better than that on vegetable oil.
· L-Ascorbic acid fatty acid esters are among the strongest antioxidants. It can prevent the formation of oil peroxides, delay the oxidation and deterioration of animal oil, vegetable oil, fish, margarine, chemicalbook milk and carotenoids, and its effect is better than BHA and BHT. If used in combination with other antioxidants such as VE, the antioxidant effect will be more significant.
· L-ascorbyl palmitate is a new type of intelligent food preservative. Due to its unique effects, it has been widely added to vegetable oils or food as a fat-soluble antioxidant and nutritional enhancer. Compared with L-ascorbic acid, L-ascorbyl palmitate has a significantly improved antioxidant effect; due to the embedding of palmitic acid groups, it has both hydrophilic ascorbic acid groups and lipophilic palmitic acid groups, thus becoming a high-quality chemical surfactant 31. In addition, Kageyama K et al. also found that it can significantly inhibit the DNA production of Ehrlichascites tumor cells and dissolve the cytoplasmic unsaturated fatty acids of tumor cells, making it a good anti-cancer substance. It can be predicted that L-ascorbyl palmitate will eventually be active in various industries such as food, cosmetics and medical products as a key intelligent preservative.
· L-Ascorbyl palmitate can be used as an antioxidant and acts as a fat-soluble antioxidant. It is suitable for use in animal and vegetable oils and various types of food. For example, it has a significant effect on stabilizing soybean oil, cottonseed oil, palm oil, unsaturated fats and hydrogenated vegetable oils.
· Ascorbyl palmitate is a lipophilic derivative of ascorbic acid with antioxidant and antiproliferative activities. It scavenges hydroxyl radicals in cell-free assays. Ascorbyl palmitate (0.01%) reduces the rate of autoxidation of soybean, safflower, sunflower, peanut, and corn oil. It inhibits increases in epidermal ornithine decarboxylase activity and DNA synthesis induced by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (TPA; ) in mice in a concentration-dependent manner when applied topically. Ascorbyl palmitate (0.8 and 4 μmol per 200 μl of acetone, applied topically) reduces the number of tumors per mouse and the percentage of mice with tumors in a mouse skin two-stage model of tumor formation initiated and promoted by 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) and TPA, respectively. Formulations containing ascorbyl palmitate have been used as antioxidants and preservatives in foods, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.
· Ascorbyl Palmitate is an ester formed from ascorbic acid and palmitic acid creating a fat soluble form of vitamin C. It is used as an antioxidant food additive. It is also used as a preservative and an anti-oxidant in cosmetic creams and lotions to prevent rancidity. Ascorbyl palmitate facilitates the incorporation of ingredients such as vitamins A, C, and D into cosmetic formulations. It has no known toxicity.
